'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result completed an unbelievable recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 during the second half. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for club and country, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and on the road. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
